Write the Board
Send them your own words.
Four letters to start from. Send one as it is, or make it yours — the words are only a scaffold. Each button opens the email in your own program, addressed to the Clerk of the Board with every supervisor copied. You send it yourself, from your own address. Nothing here passes through us.
- It has to arrive early. Written comment on an agenda item has to reach the Clerk by four in the afternoon the day before the meeting. Anything later is read as general correspondence.
- It becomes public. What you send is a public record, with your name and your email address on it. Say only what you would say out loud in the room.
- One sentence counts. There is no minimum. A supervisor reads a short letter about one road more often than a long one about everything.
- Speaking is different. If you go in person, the chair can hold you to three minutes.
[PUBLISHED] Nevada County public comment guide; How to address the Board.
Each one opens in your own email, addressed and written. Every word of it is yours to change.
Each one is a starting point. Open it, make it yours, then send.
The rule
A complaint alone should never be enough
Ask for the one rule: confirm a violation before acting, and work cases by danger.
The threat
End a case a threat started
Ask the Board to end a case when the evidence shows it was filed to settle a score.
The record
Write down where cases come from
Ask for every case to record its origin, and for the totals to be published.
Your own words
Start from blank
Opens the same email, addressed the same way, with nothing written in it.
[PUBLISHED] Addresses as published by the County: the Clerk of the Board on its public comment guide, and each supervisor in the County’s own staff directory. Every letter goes to the Board’s public comment inbox and the Clerk of the Board, with all five supervisors copied.
Call about the letter on your table, or the rule behind it. The line doesn’t stop at the county line — there’s a Midway out past it, and it’s open.
We’re not the County. Not an emergency line. Nobody here’s a real person.
Speak for three minutes. Public comment is taken at the Board’s meetings, and the chair can hold each speaker to three minutes. You do not have to be on the agenda to speak about something the Board is responsible for.
Or record a statement. Call the line and ask to leave a message for the Board. You get three minutes, you hear a notice first, and you decide at the end whether it is kept. What is kept goes to the Clerk of the Board as public comment, the same as a letter. What the County does with it from there is the County’s call. If you would rather it arrive in writing, in your own words, use the buttons above.
